Cybersecurity is not only hardware and software.

Some of us started in cybersecurity just as the kids in the countryside learn to swim.

We were thrown into the river and there, with great courage, we took our first strokes and quickly learned to stay afloat and swim from one side of the river to the other.

Similarly, cybersecurity specialists started a few years ago with the first antivirus and firewalls, then we began to manage services and accounts on servers, encrypting data in transit.

Just as the best swimmers need to know and master stroke, kick, breathing techniques, in cybersecurity you need to strengthen your techniques using recognized standards such as SCF, NIST CSF, CIS, ISO 27001, PCI DSS, OWASP, HIPAA.

Relying on your own intuition and intelligence is not enough to develop optimally in cybersecurity, relying solely on your own knowledge is a risk.⚠️

In addition to having enough technological knowledge, you need to work on these 3 techniques just as the good swimmer masters his techniques to face rougher rivers:

  1. Work as a team with people.
  2. Know your organization, the important information is there, not only in the hardware and software.
  3. Select and implement a cybersecurity framework just as you select a car. Without maintenance it will become useless.

I hope this analogy introduces you to an everyday way to understand and successfully lead the application of cybersecurity in your organization.

Managing Cyber Risks: Third-Party and End-User Challenges

🔐 Managing Cyber Risks: Third-Party and End-User Challenges Our organizations face a multitude of cyber threats that can compromise data integrity, disrupt operations, and damage reputations. Among the most challenging risks are those posed by third parties and end users. These risks often operate outside the direct control of the organization, yet their actions or inactions can have profound security implications. Understanding these risks and implementing effective controls is essential for building a resilient cybersecurity posture. 🔗  Third-Party Risks arises when organizations rely on external vendors, suppliers, or service providers who have access to our sensitive systems or data. These partners may not adhere to the same security standards, creating vulnerabilities that can be exploited by malicious actors. High-profile breaches, such as those involving supply chain attacks, have underscored the dangers of insufficient oversight in third-party relationships. The challeng...
